Our Charge Controller

Our Charge controllers have come of age employing the latest controlls in wind turbines and best charging practices to take care of your battery bank. The charge controller switches a dummy load when the turbine overspeeds. It also checks the battery level and pulses it and desulphates the battery giving it a longer life. Our systems have been designed to hybrid with solar panels. Below is an explanation of pulse charging.

Pulse Charger

At Craftskills we have employed the pulse-charging technology. It is different from the normal linear charging found in most battery charging systems. Pulse charging is done by generating a high current pulse and injecting it into a battery. The pulses are at a determined interval. There are a number of advantages of pulse charging compared to linear charging as we have itemized below

1. Pulse charging does not raise the temperature of the battery. In most linear chargers the battery temperature rises to a level that the electrolyte starts evaporating leaving the battery dry and dead. Hence the reason battery manufacturers say "Add battery water regularly".

2. Pulsing charges a battery faster than linear charging. Up to ten times faster.

3. Pulse charging revives a sulphated "dead" battery by reclaiming back the lead after dissolving the sulphur back to the electrolyte.

4.Pulse charging does not allow the battery to gas. Linear charging breaks down the electrolyte to release hydrogen.

5. Your Battery bank will last longer as there will be no change of sulphating.
